Fingerprinting

Today, August 29th we had our appointment at USCIS to have our fingerprints done for the adoption. We had heard that this could take quite a long time to accomplish. We finally found the building and paid the parking meter for 3 hours so we wouldn't have to run back out and refeed the meter. We walked right in the office at 10:00 am, filled out some paperwork, were sent to another waiting area and didn't even have a chance to sit down before they called our number. We were completely done by 10:16 am!!! This was the fastest step in the entire process so far! As we left the building we decided to walk around Portland for a bit to use up some of the prepaid meter time we had on parking. It was a bummer we couldn't take photos of the actual fingerprinting, but they have changed policies and with the Privacy Act they have banned all cell phones and cameras. Darin so wanted to document this portion of the process, but it was not meant to be, I guess.

David and I were fingerprinted twice in our process and both times we were in and out in under 30 minutes.

Don't forget that your fingerprints are only valid for 18 months. Isn't that silly!?

I'm so happy for you guys and your decision. May you have 16 minute processes the whole rest of the way. :)

My how time flies. I can't believe that you guys began the process 8+ months ago. It seems like yesterday that you were sitting in our house with our community group, asking for prayer and beginning the paperwork.

OK, realistically, you were sitting at our house yesterday for community group...but we were celebrating your 38th birthday!!! :)

Love you guys!

When I was back in IL we had dinner with some family friends who are doctors from India. They are trying to establish an adoption agency to make it easier for families to adopt children from India. It was interesting to hear their perspective on how the Indian government handles adoptions there and how they plan to help families through the process. I thought of you my entire meal!
